We have been very busy in second grade this week!!! We started the week by helping the ladies in the cafeteria cook our second grade cauliflower recipe. It was our goal to measure the waste, but the kids ate it all! There wasn't enough to measure. We were successful in getting students to eat more cauliflower!!! On Wednesday, our school had visitors from other schools. They visited our class in the garden. We were working with Ms. Carmen to "bleach" our cauliflower. Cauliflower turns yellow from the sun while it's growing. We had to wrap it in leaves (like a blanket) so that is will go back to being white. Yesterday, we got to listen to author Julia Cook. She talked to the kids about the importance of the flag, thinking before you speak, and how to stay safe from "scoopers." Ask your child to tell you all about this fun author!!!!
Today was our official STEM certification ceremony. This is a huge accomplishment for Brookwood School. Your children are getting a wonderful learning experience!!!
We will have our holiday party next Wednesday afternoon. I still need a few parents to send in supplies. Thank you to those who have already volunteered!!! Next Thursday will be an early release day. I hope all of you are having a wonderful holiday season!
