We had a wonderful day today! The students looked great in their costumes. We started by planting seeds with fish. Thanks to Mrs. Carmen for helping with this. Some students were skeptical at first, but they all planted with the fish. We then played a version of stick ball, sang Cherokee music, made headbands with Cherokee writing, and cooked a Cherokee dish. The students were all good sports and tried the hominy and most of them really liked it ! I will send the recipe home after the break. We ended our morning with an Aztec pow wow demonstration. It was really neat to see another Indian tribe's rituals and customs. Thanks to all the parents/grandparents that helped today! I wish all of you a safe and restful holiday season. Everyone has wonderful kids to be thankful for!
