We are entering our final term for this school year. We will be doing a lot of reviewing this term, but there will also be new information in reading, language arts, science, math and social studies. The students will also begin work on our smoothie sale. We are not sure of the exact date yet, but it will be in early May. We will need some parent volunteers on that day to help! The goal of the smoothie sale is to increase the amount of spinach being consumed by Brookwood students and staff. Our smoothies have no added sugar and are made using spinach that our students have grown.
Today, your children planted lettuce in the garden with Ms. Carmen. We will harvest this at the end of the year and sell it at the Dalton Farmer's market. Last summer, we had a very successful sale with tomatoes and cucumbers. Look for information to come home in late May about the market.
Next week is Spring Break. I hope everyone has a wonderful and restful week. Don't forget to have your child do some reading. I will send home "take home" books with everyone to make sure you have something on your child's reading level. Study Island and IXL.com are also great resources if your child is looking for something to do next week. Have a great week off!

Students conducting milk surveys with 3rd graders. We were looking to see what kind of milk choices the students of Brookwood are making each day. Chocolate milk has 6 more grams of sugar per serving than white milk and 18 more than water.
